This repository provides a complete Ukrainian localization package for the content management framework Cotonti version 0.9.26 (Siena branch), designed to run on PHP 8.4 and higher.

Project Purpose

This package delivers a fully Ukrainian interface for the standard “out-of-the-box” Cotonti distribution. The localization covers the core system, default modules, plugins, and the standard theme.

The package can be used:

• for a clean (new) installation of Cotonti;
• as an additional localization for an existing website;
• within a multilingual project where Ukrainian is either the primary or an additional language.

Package Contents

The localization includes the following components:

1. Core System

The /lang/ua/ directory contains translations of key system files, including:

• administrative interface;
• system messages;
• user-related sections;
• countries;
• transliteration;
• basic interface elements.

This ensures full Ukrainian translation of the default system interface.

2. Standard Modules

The /modules/*/lang/ directories contain translation files for all default modules included in the official Cotonti distribution, such as:

• forums;
• pages (page module);
• private messages (pm);
• personal file storage (pfs);
• polls;
• RSS;
• users;
• index page;
• installer.

Each module includes its own *.ua.lang.php file, fully compliant with Cotonti’s localization architecture.

3. Default Plugins

The package also provides translations for standard plugins, including:

• sitemap;
• statistics;
• referers;

Translation files are placed in the standard path /plugins/<plugin>/lang/, ensuring consistency across both frontend and administrative interfaces.

4. Theme Support

The package supports the default Nemesis theme included in the Cotonti distribution.

Installation for a New Cotonti Setup

If Ukrainian is intended to be the default primary language of the website, the following procedure is recommended:

1. Download the latest version of Cotonti from the official repository.
2. Upload the system files to the server.
3. Download the Ukrainian localization package.
4. Copy the lang, modules, plugins, and themes directories into the root directory of the website.
5. When launching the installer, select Ukrainian from the language dropdown list.

If Ukrainian is used as the primary language, the database should initially be populated with Ukrainian content. Only afterward is it recommended to add translations into other languages within a multilingual configuration.
